Do you fancy a journey to Egypt? And a little bit of time travel too?

Imagine that golden time of Egyptology when ancient treasures of Egypt started to be discovered: entering the pyramids, discovering tombs, digging out the sphynx, and deciphering hieroglyphics. Staying in few hotels next to pyramids, collecting local articles, and sending an array of postcards and letters with beautiful Egyptian stamps. Of course, you need the map of Egypt too. Vintage times…

Your Indiana Jones vibes just kicked in. Yet, of course, this is not exactly what we can do. However, through your imagination and creativity, there is a way to make something that will be uniquely yours only. And that is exactly what I did. Starting from scratch and creating digital pages with the help of my husband who is a graphic designer alongside many other talents.
Then to the nitty-gritty of the whole process of creating the vintage journal.
I made a varnished hardcover from cardboard and calico with acrylic accentuated golden edges and papyrus looking background for the inner cover. I wanted a bigger journal, so I created three signatures using my digital kit pages, coffee-dyed paper, and some other vintage printed pages, including a vintage map of Egypt, of course. That gave me a lot of space for writing. Signatures were tied with bamboo threads that I left long enough to attach beads of golden, lapis lazuli, and glass accents.

Then I’ve made a variety of ephemera with a distressed look. That included pockets, mini tag booklets, vintage photos, double-sided postcards and letters with stamps, that added that authentic look. And you always want to have those hidden little ‘nooks and crannies for extra interest.

To say that I was pleased with the finished journal would be an understatement. I was thrilled!

You can watch the flip-through, and leave a reply of what you think on this post or on the YouTube video itself.
Soon afterward, as I was showcasing my journal, I’ve got a custom order and made another journal with a soft calico cover, turquoise beds, and two signatures. You can see the flip-through video here:
I also have two more soft-covers single signatures journals available for sale in my shop on this website called ‘Chase Your Dreams’ and ‘Live Your Dreams’. Each one has a flip-through video attached below their listing and can be checked there. Maybe that could be a perfect gift for that hidden Indiana Jones person.
The Digital kit itself is available in my Etsy shop:
